Cape Lookout NC's False Albacore run was put on the map many years ago by the world's best fly fisherman.
Captain Bates Charter Fishing trips target False Albacore in the Fall and Spring, providing excellent full-on drag screaming enjoyment, for all anglers from the seasoned pros to the young guns!
Cape Lookout has been a top fishing destination for several U.S. Presidents, world-famous fishermen, and fishermen from all over the world. Every fall when the wind starts blowing out of the North and the water temps begin to drop, the baitfish inshore make a mass exodus through Beaufort inlet, Barden's inlet, and Drum inlet. Waiting to ambush are schools of hungry and aggressive False Albacore. Their surface feeding activities, aggressive nature, and line pealing runs make for arguably one of the best saltwater species to target on the fly rod, and light tackle spinning gear. Terns and pelicans dive-bombing bait balls from above and hundreds of Albies showering bait on the surface make for a full-on National Geographic experience!
Book your 2020-2021 False Albacore Charter Today and let's fish the Prestine Waters of Cape Lookout and Harkers Island, leaving from Morehead City, Beaufort or Atlantic Beach NC!
We also participate in the Cape Lookout Albacore and Redfish Festival annually. It is a blast and supports the great Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing group.
